| I've seen this DVD movie This Is Spinal Tap more times than any other This Is Spinal Tap Comedy movie in history. When I was 12 or 13, my brother and we saw that lease 3 times on the same day. First I hated it because I did not know any better, and my brother never "helped" me figure out why it's funny. The second time I saw my "I" and have never been the same since. First of all, the film: This Is Spinal Tap is ad-libbed songs and apart from a few lines, which is the reason that people talk over each other a lot, requiring repeated visits to catch everything. It is in documentary form, so it all works of this type of movie. The songs are catchy but hysterical at the same time as the true scene of 80's rock and hair metal (and some of them). Undoubtedly helps to be a fan of the rock genre to enjoy the movie, or lost in some important references and basis for each member of the band. No dull moment in this fast 82 minutes of film, and the large number of hysterical cameos (including Fran Drescher, Billy Crystal, Bruno Kirby, Howard Hesseman, Paul Shaffer and Anjelica Huston), the This Is Spinal Tap film starts to 11, as all put in stellar performances. This film: This Is Spinal Tap should be in the Top 100, no doubt. On my list would be in the Top 10. Of course, American History X is currently rated # 41, which tells you something about the classification system IMDb. |
| "This is Spinal Tap" is a cult classic and the epitome of the 'mockumentary' making the film. We are shown the sights, sounds and smells of the fictional band Spinal Tap as they embark on a tour of North America that keeps going from bad to worse, with a reception and internal problems. The cast is a good one and the band members (Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer) actually played their own instruments. Of course, in a DVD film This Is Spinal Tap like this to be realistic rather than exploits, and I must say that Most of the cast performs well in this regard. The plot (what little there is) is filled with humor and memorable quotes escapades. Humor is often quite subtle that fly under the radar of some viewers. As for realism, the fact that so many musicians have said the This Is Spinal Tap Comedy should give a true indication of the writers' knowledge of their subject. In the direction front, Rob Reiner does a good job of setting this DivX film This Is Spinal Tap as a documentary. A more polished approach that did not work so well. When people are confused about whether or not it is a true documentary Reiner you know that has hit its mark. The music is also enjoyable, especially since so cleverly mimics the real thing. I recommend this This Is Spinal Tap Comedy film for me, but there is still something missing. There are many memorable scenes and events, but the DVD movie This Is Spinal Tap as a whole lacks cohesion and a strong story. Definitely worth seeing for lovers of music, although I do not know how others have of it. |
| You do not have to be a rock historian to know that the days of explicit rap were preceded by a time when rock musicians held sex with lyrics that contain smart (and sometimes unintentionally hilarious) metaphors and sexual innuendo . That's why the songs from "This is Spinal Tap" they can still laugh at young audiences. This This Is Spinal Tap Comedy is made to look like a documentary that chronicles the tour of Spinal Tap, an aging rock band whose popularity is declining. The dialogue is often hilarious partially improvised. Much of the humor is built around a character totally alien to ridicule what they are saying or doing. If you've ever seen the VH1 "Behind the Music", will realize that this DivX film This Is Spinal Tap makes fun of all the items on the existence rockstar, except (surprisingly) the use of drugs. The humor is subtle compared to films like Wedding Crashers or almost any DVD movie This Is Spinal Tap by Martin Lawrence, in which the characters are often in place for jokes, unknowingly, has just been a joke. But for people who "get" the subtle humor, Spinal Tap you rolling on the ground sometimes. Of the same brand of humor and much of the same cast, see "Best in Show" and "Waiting for Guffman." Or a hilarious mockumentary about a rap group in 1990, see "Fear of a Black Hat." |
